# Aider — tools that shaped CodeVetter

A small, ranked repository map gives an agent useful context without dumping the whole tree.

## What we admire

Aider makes repository context a deliberate budget. Its map uses syntax and relationships to select definitions that are likely to help with the current task, then leaves room for the agent to read the real files.

## The principle that stayed

The valuable unit is a navigable lead with an explicit source, rather than a large prompt that merely looks comprehensive. Ranking matters because every extra token competes with evidence from the actual change.

## Where CodeVetter stands

Our repository graph and Repo Unpack packets pursue bounded, source-linked navigation. We did not port Aider’s PageRank implementation or make a repository map the verdict. The verifier still has to execute checks and attach run evidence.
