# codesize — tools that shaped CodeVetter

A tiny heuristic can still point a reviewer toward risky code.

## What we admire

codesize was interesting because it suggests function size as one inexpensive maintainability and review signal. Small, transparent heuristics can be useful when they are clearly labeled as leads.

## The principle that stayed

Function size cannot predict a defect by itself. A signal should be calibrated against real outcomes and should never be presented as a proof of failure.

## Where CodeVetter stands

Our integration review decided not to depend on codesize. Repo Unpack’s health inventory remains explicitly heuristic and keeps defect, maintainability, and performance leads separate.
