# SCIP — tools that shaped CodeVetter

> Canonical page: https://codevetter.com/inspiration/scip

An interchange format can connect symbol and reference information across tools.

## What we admire

SCIP gives code intelligence a portable vocabulary for symbols and references. That is appealing when a product needs to consume precise navigation data without reinventing every language indexer.

## The principle that stayed

An interchange format is useful only with reliable producers and a clear freshness contract. It should not be mistaken for a complete graph or a behavioral verifier.

## Where CodeVetter stands

We recorded SCIP as research only. CodeVetter’s canonical graph uses its own versioned Rust receipts and bundled parsers; no SCIP indexer is required.
